The Obama Grant: scholarships for single moms (physical disabilities)

By Fred Jackson

For many the idea of returning to college as working mothers seems almost a dream. However it need not be with the assistance of the government beneath the Obama administration. However do you know what the Obama grant is all about? It’s interesting to note that such federal programs as ones assisting mothers in attending college are not a new phenomenon’s instead they are existing government benefits that have been improved upon and made more aware of to the public. For moms who wish to return to College the Pell grants creates a huge plus point and is certainly causing many to take note.

Financial aid awarded by the government known as the Federal Pell grants has been in existence for many years and is specifically used for the furtherance of college. The Pell grant plays a huge advantage to any student awarded such aid as it does not require repayment at the end typical of a normal loan. Seeking an undergraduate degree? Then you have a good running in being awarded the Pell grant formed specifically for those without a bachelor’s or professional degree. These two characteristics are ideal for single, working mothers, which is the cause of all the excitement over the Scholarships for Moms program. The Pell grant is being used by President Obama and his administration to encourage mothers to make use of the funds in attending college although no specific program exists by that name.

In addition to being a monetary gift rather than a loan, Pell grants don’t place restrictions on other sources of financial aid that you can receive. Aid can be obtained to cover further educational cost through federal programs and private, non-federal organizations alike. The highest amount provided through the Pell grant totals $5,350.00 being awarded from the 1st of July 2009 to the 30th June 2010. It’s unlikely that this amount will cover your full college expenses it does not restrict you from applying to other sources. Furthermore, if you are awarded money, its use is not limited to paying for tuition. Other requirements which maybe needed when it comes to education may include laptops, books, travel and of course housing.

With much attention being paid by the Obama administration to the importance of further education the scholarships for moms’ has become ever more popular also highlighting the many advantages of the Pell grant program. Such a federal program makes for a favorable choice when it comes to single mothers who are working and wish to earn a degree. Thankfully many are beginning to realize that family obligations or financial needs does not mean that college is no longer an option.

It is encouraging to see how the Obama grant obtained through the federal Pell grant program has benefited many to go to college. For all working mothers this is a definite plus. There is certainly great encouragement for all single mothers with a full-time job by the current administration to obtain a degree by going to college. The current administration is heartily cheering for single, full-time working mothers to apply for college and earn a degree. So much could change your future for the better.
