(Mentally challenged) Applying for Financial Aid Is Strategically Needful

May 31st, 2010 admin Posted in education No Comments »

By Alvin Hanson

  The strategy of applying for financial aid is that a student acquires a piece of freedom in doing what has been planned initially. This is why a mature student should cope with the procedure of applying well. Otherwise, there is no talking about positive results. The sphere of financial relations overpasses students in their ordinary life. Thus, if there is a need to ask an educational establishment board for the help, it is quite easier to do by applying for financial aid.

Stick around and have an idea of what is needed

In this case one should perceive the significance of the issue. It is not just a begging for help. It is a way that characterizes a students problem, on the one hand. On the other hand, applying for financial aid shows what has been gained academically so far. The question is about the capability of stating arguments and writing application essays. Thus, the main issues to solve are:

? Realizing the need of getting an aid from inside out;

? Working out the arguments;

? Writing an essay.

However, before doing it, there is a scope of issues to be followed.

Choose a special point to be amplified exclusively

Cases vary due to the extent of their significance or difficulty. However, social aspects are to be determined by the administration of an educational establishment. To prove this idea, a student should bring in his/her mite to point out personal interest about the issue. Thereupon, it is vital to make a point over the nature of problem in question. The most frequent problems are:

Distress in family;

Disability to attend classes due to some physical injuries;

Lack of financial support;

Need to provide sponsorship.

Do it well

Take a glimpse at everything discussed above and figure out the schedule of particular actions. A student is persuasive in intentions to apply when all points are taken into consideration.

Higher Education as Starting Point for Your Future Career

By Alvin Hanson

  Children and teenagers want to become the representatives of different professions and occupations when they grow up. Some children want to be famous and popular, while others want to become outstanding researchers and scientists. We all know that dreams are likely to come true when nobody expects. However, some persistence and efforts are required in order to become what you want without hoping that someday a white witch will come and make you a prince or a princess. When you want to become famous or to achieve certain goals in life, education is one of the most important aspects that can be helpful.

Education and Reasons for Becoming Educated

As a rule, people want to get everything at once and only few understand that only hard work and strategic thinking can bring the desired into life. Education can be considered the first step in the strategy on the way to successful career and brilliant future. Being a movie start is not supposed to be easy, especially if you are not educated. Do not think that education is necessary only for a diploma because this brings us to the next step of the success-achieving strategy. The second step includes the reasons for becoming educated:

1. It gives you a chance to meet interesting educated people;

2. It provides you with basic knowledge on different subjects (which is enough for further development of these data);

3. It provokes thinking and makes you analyze your actions, their consequences, and results;

4. It develops your confidence and potential features required for your career.

Education and Career

A successful career presupposes certain skills and knowledge. When you do not know the basic aspects related to your profession or occupation, you are not likely to become successful. Education and training are aimed at developing your experience in terms of career perspectives.

Training and courses can be required if your skills are not enough to get the job to which you are assigned. However, you should become educated in order to go further.

Career Planning: Is Career Planning Helpful Or Harmful?

By Joee

  Career planning is quite disputable question. Some people think it is essential for achieving ones life goals. Some argue that it is a waste of time. But who is right? Can career planning be helpful? Or vice versa can it be harmful? It is time to decide.

Can career planning be helpful?

Basically, career planning is defining ones major life goals and keeping to this plan. Such plans are made up for 5 or ten years. This is quite a long period. It is quite difficult to predict what your life will be even in a day. However, it is possible to formulate your objectives. One can define what he wants to achieve. Why not to put some deadlines in this case? Actually, these deadlines can only motivate the person to moving forward and never stop.

Career planning can bring order in ones career. Career planning defines the major goals to be achieved. It also depicts what extra knowledge one may need to achieve his/her goals. For instance, if some post presupposes some additional education or course one will have time to do it. Career planning help to be more prepared. Even if some changes occur in ones life. It is also possible to re-work a little ones plan to achieve the major goals.

Can career planning be harmful?

There can be, of course, the case when career planning can be hypothetically harmful. For instance, a person can be too addicted to his/her plan. He/she can ignore some brilliant opportunity to reach more success, but this person will stick to plan. Though it is hardly possible, isnt it? May be someone calls making such plan a waste of time? But are few hours such a big waste? You can spend few hours to make the plan and few hours to update it. Nothing crucial for career can happen in those few hours. Instead proper career plan can keep you prepared and committed to achieving your objectives.

IUPAT Ontario District Council 46: A Training Ground For Young Activists (learning disability colleges)

May 30th, 2010 admin Posted in education No Comments »

By Kristjan Byfield

  As part of its commitment to educate young activists about leadership, IUPAT District Council 46 has unveiled a series of new programs for potential young leaders. Designed to offer new and potential leaders within the union, insights into the labour movement and the value of political action and organization, these programs will add to IUPATs existing initiatives in the field of education.

Described by IUPAT General President Williams as the “Young Lions” of the union, these potential new recruits will be educated on the need for political involvement and political action. With the 2010 Ontario elections for mayors, city councilors, and school board trustees due to be held on October 25, 2010, IUPAT District Council 46 and other Ontario Local Unions are upbeat that these programs will lead to a new generation of leaders who will motivate and inspire union members in the years to come.

In the past, there have been many threats to the labour movement in Ontario. Even today, some city councilors continue to support a move to remove the Fair Wage Policy and eliminate the collective bargaining agreements at the City of Toronto and the Metro Toronto School Board along with the other communities in Ontario that support organized labour. At the moment, both policies offer IUPAT District Council 46 and the Locals in Ontario enormous benefits. In DC 46 alone, 13 IUPAT District 46 members work for the City of Toronto paint maintenance department, accumulating 22,000 work hours and $683,000 in wages. Similarly, the Toronto District School Board provides work for 69 members. This adds up to 87,000 hours and over $975,000 in wages. Above this are the numerous contractors that employ our members in the various fair wage communities.

With so much at stake, it is crucial that the good work done by IUPAT in the Province of Ontario continue. This is where you, our bright and dynamic young activists, come in. By involving yourselves as trainers in our education and recruiting initiatives for leadership building, you will help our union pave the way for the future.

The initiatives, known collectively as TEAM TOGETHER EDUCATING AND ACTIVATING MEMBERS, are designed to build a better understanding of the labour movement, and educate union members understand the intricacies of collective bargaining. TEAM will also address such issues as the decline of union action and the value of non-union members to the collective bargaining power of the union. Most importantly, TEAM will lay out a blueprint for future political action by IUPAT District Council 46 within the Province of Ontario. Members who attend these sessions will return with a thorough understanding of the history of the labour movement and the issues confronting it.

Money for College: Obama Grants for Mothers

By Fred Jackson

  It’s widely accepted that education is important to having a successful future. Since his campaign to become President, Barack Obama has made education a key issue. Grants and scholarships are just the beginning of efforts to try to make over higher education.

Expenses like college tuition and housing grow even as the economy suffers. Tuition and housing costs often far exceed scholarship offers. Unfortunately some students turn away from higher education because it’s too expensive. Working, single mothers are particularly hit hard. More education helps single mothers achieve on their jobs and take care of their families. Creating college grants for moms is one way the President is dealing with this issue. Because of his efforts many people now refer to Federal Pell Grants as Obama grants. Currently students can earn about $5,350 through a Pell grant. For mothers and other students, this is increase of available money is valuable help. With these grants for moms, they can pay for tuition, books or any other school-related expenses.

Single moms should also consider the American Opportunity Tax Credit. With this tax credit, the first $4,000 of college expenses are free. Especially for less expensive schools, $4,000 could be a significant help for a student. Single moms often fall into this group, so these programs are particularly beneficial to them. There are almost no restrictions on where and what a student studies. Taking away a little of the financial burden of college is a helpful way to get more students enrolled.

Increasing educational opportunity and performance is undoubtedly one of the President’s goals. The new stimulus package has some benefits for potential college students. Preparing schools and students for success is an important Obama administration mission. Since many overlook community colleges, there is emphasis on increasing their effectiveness and appeal. A 2-year degree or the time spent learning a technical school from a community college can be a tremendous asset.

In his Reclaiming the American Dream speech in 2007, Obama said, “We need to put a college education within reach of every American. That’s the best investment we can make in our future.” The President has shown a good effort to support his words through action. Even though Obama’s grants for moms get much attention they are certainly not the only important opportunity being offered. Traditional and non-traditional students alike have numerous opportunities to put their education first.
